BL010 - INTERVIEW w/ Manfred Karrer on BitSquare the decentralized open-source exchange

This is a mivestream discussion with Manfred Karrer. An Austrian software developer who lives in Barcelona, working on Bitsquare since early 2014. When he first heard about Bitcoin early 2011 he fell instantly into the infamous rabbit hole of Bitcoin and thought that Bitcoin is the most important and disruptive innovation since the internet (and still believes that).

In the search for becoming active in the Bitcoin field he tried to find a solution for something what most people said it is impossible: A decentralized Bitcoin-Fiat exchange. After a few months of research he started to implement a prototype which has evolved later into a fully functional trading application.

BL009 - INTERVIEW w/ Thomas Goemare - Discussing Bitcoin Merchant adoption in Ypres city

Thomas' ultimate goal is living independently from centralised services like banks. Though he is a developer, he chose to leave the computer what it is in his free time, and went 'on the road'. 

Inspired by the Ghent Bitcoinstad project, he kicked off his own project 'ieper bitcoinstad', his hometown Ieper located in Flanders Fields in a remote corner of the country. 

Ypres (aka leper), is a town in the Belgian province of West Flanders. It's surrounded by Ypres Salient battlefields, where many cemeteries, memorials and war museums honor the German-Allied battles that unfolded in this area during World War I.

Meet during this short podcast Karolien Soete. The artist behind 'Humans of BLAB' on Instagram. Meet and discover her long term project Talking Walls, visual artist Karolien Soete paints poetical murals that come to life in stop motion animations. Figures grow and fade, landscapes emerge and disappear telling a story of inner turbulence and memories. Soete's images often correspond with the natural environment of the wall, the history of the building or city in which it stands. In that sense, the paintings that emerge are an attempt is to materialize the history and images buried deep into the brick and cement. In the universe of Soete, images continuously turn up, evolve and disappear, but they always leave their traces.
